Never thought it was possible

Will They Remember? by Billy D.

Will They Remember?

Will they remember us when we are gone,
the battles we fought, the wars we’ve won?
Will any of this matter to the youth of tomorrow,
the loss of lives, the carnage, the sorrow?

Will they remember the reasons we fought,
the freedom provided the democracy we brought?
Or, will this all be passed off as an old cliché,
as patriotic rhetoric from their grand parents’ day?

Will they remember, as a hearse rolls by,
With a flag draped casket, resting inside,
to show gratitude and respect, if only in thought,
for the hero within and the freedom he’s brought.

Will they remember the spine tingling sound
as a bugle blows “Taps” at the burial ground?
Will they remember to honor the military man,
regardless of their political stand?

Will they remember the sacrifice?
And that freedom comes at a very steep price?
A bill that was started so long ago,
and is still being paid by many they will never know?

Will they remember…..?

Meaning of Flag Draped Coffin.

All Americans should be given this lesson. Those who think that America is an arrogant nation should really reconsider that thought. Our founding fathers used GOD's word and teachings to establish our Great Nation and I think it's high time Americans get re-educated about this Nation's history. Pass it along and be proud of the country we live in and even more proud of those who serve to protect our "GOD GIVEN" rights and freedoms.

I hope you take the time to read this..... To understand what the flag draped coffin really means...... Here is how to understand the flag that laid upon it and is surrendered to so many widows and widowers.

Do you know that at military funerals, the 21-gun salute stands for the sum of the numbers in the year 1776?

Have you ever noticed the honor guard pays meticulous attention to correctly folding the United States of America Flag 13 times? You probably thought it was to symbolize the original 13 colonies, but we learn something new every day!

The 1st fold of the flag is a symbol of life.

The 2nd fold is a symbol of the belief in eternal life.

The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing the ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of the country to attain peace throughout the world.

The 4th fold represents the weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance.

The 5th fold is a tribute to the country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, "Our Country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong."

The 6th fold is for where people's hearts lie. It is with their heart that They pledge allegiance to the flag of the United! States Of America, and the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

The 7th fold is a tribute to its Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that they protect their country and their flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of their republic.

The 8th fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day.

The 9th fold is a tribute to womanhood, and Mothers. For it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded.

The 10th fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of their country since they were first born.

The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in the Hebrews eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in the Christians eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit .

The 13th fold, or when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding them of their nations motto, "In God We Trust."

After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for them the rights, privileges and freedoms they enjoy today.

There are some traditions and ways of doing things that have deep meaning. In the future, you'll see flags folded and now you will know why.

Share this with the children you love and all others who love what is referred to, the symbol of "Liberty and Freedom."

MAYBE THE SUPREME COURT SHOULD READ THIS EXPLANATION BEFORE THEY RENDER THEIR DECISION ON THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. FORWARD IT; MAYBE SOMEONE WITH THE NECESSARY POWER, OR POLITICAL AND FINANCIAL INFLUENCE, WILL GET IT TO THEM.

IN THE MEANTIME, MAY GOD PROTECT US ALWAYS.

ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

Thank You Sandra ...... What a day you had =)

Hi everybody,

I had a little adventure downtown, I was in the cathedral not knowing that the Fresno Cali Highschool Chorus was in town. I have seen them on the street with their shiny world tour jackets. We had market day and a lot of people were on the streets. Anyway I went to cathedral to pray for our Soldiers, especially for my official Apollo and Ryan.

I am protestant but I always go to the catholic cathedral because I know it is always open instead of the protestant which is always closed. So I went inside, lightened some candles and sat down on the wodden front row. The picture of the pope is covered with a purple shade to protect it. A screaming golden eagle is holding the preachers microphone. The walls are made of thick beige sandstone and huge sculptures are hanging on the wall. So I sat there and prayed, and felt that peace that you always can feel while being in a church. All the problems fell of for a little while, just god and yourself. Feeling that holy atmosphere you always can feel.

The Cathedral is also a magnet for a lot of tourists and schoolgroups.

Ten minutes later the group from Fresno California came inside and I realized that they are going to sing.
The singers are from all over the world, whose families fleed from war to start a new life in the USA, to live the American Dream.
I watched their faces, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Caucasian.. from everywhere.
So I simply walked up to one of the teachers.
"May I ask you something?" I asked
He said "Yes of course"
"Well, I am a German Soldiers Angel and I have a couple of adoptees in Iraq, do you think I could get a signature of this chorus? I have one Soldier that is very religious and I am sure he would love to get something like that."
He was totally surprised, than he looked at me, a warm smile, his hazel eyes were smiling. I am not sure if he really was one of their teachers, he could have been old enough to be a Vet of WWII, anyway I bet he never thought to meet a Soldiers Angel over here.
"Oh really? From each of them? Sure, I think they are more than willing."

So he started collecting the signatures, and than their show came up. I have never seen so many people in the cathedral.
When they started singing it was like listening to the voices of Angels.
Oh my God, I have never heard something that was so beautiful, never!
I had to fight to not move to tears.
It was so amazing, so wonderful.
Between each song two of the singers told us a little about the song that came up next and said a couple of words of the person that wrote the song. It was wonderful, so wonderful, it was so wonderful and amazing what they were able to do with their voices. The Germans totally flipped, they applaused them, some even with standing ovations. The singers had a huge grin on their faces, the dirigent said that they are not used to so much applause and you've been able to see how proud those kids were.

The message of their show was loud and clearly:

TOGETHER WE CAN ACCOMPLISH EVERYTHiNG!!!!

Also the nice man gave the signatures to me and said that I will also get a CD for my Troopers with all the songs they sang.
This shows again, you just gotta ask ;)

Afterwards I went to grocerie to get some food and when I came home I heard the phone ringing. I ran into my room and picked up the phone.

The person spoke english and first I thought it'd be George.
"George is this you?" I asked
The connection was bad and it was very loud in the background.
"No this is not George" Jo said
"Ooooh, I am so sorry, Jo?"
"Yep"
"What is that in the background?
"A Helicopter"
"Oh, okay... "
"Sandra, keep me in your prayers"
than he hung up.

WE ALL KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON,

KEEP HIM IN YOUR PRAYERS,

TOGETHER WE CAN ACCOMPLISH EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING!!!

Anyway... that was my day, how was yours?

Yours

German Angel

Between the Monsters & the Weak

We Are All That Stands Between The Monsters And The Weak

The sun beat like a hammer, not a cloud was in the sky.
The mid-day air ran thick with dust, my throat was parched and dry.
With microphone clutched tight in hand and cameraman in tow, I ducked beneath a fallen roof, surprised to hear, "Stay low."

My eyes blinked several times before in shadow I could see, The figure stretched across the rubble, steps away from me.
He wore a cloak of burlap strips, all shades of grey and brown, That hung in tatters till he seemed to melt into the ground.

He never turned his head or took his eye from off the scope, But pointed through the broken wall and down the rocky slope.
"About eight hundred yards," he said, his whispered words concise, "Beneath the baggy jacket he is wearing a device."

A chill ran up my spine despite the swelter of the heat, "You think he's gonna set it off along the crowded street?"
The sniper gave a weary sigh and said, "I wouldn't doubt it,"
"Unless there's something this old gun and I can do about it."

A thunderclap, a tongue of flame, the still abruptly shattered; While citizens that walked the street were just as quickly scattered.
Till only one remained, a body crumpled on the ground, The threat to oh, so many ended by a single round.

And yet the sniper had no cheer, no hint of any gloat, Instead he pulled a logbook out and quietly he wrote.
"Hey, I could put you on TV, that shot was quite a story!"
But he surprised me once again -- "I got no wish for glory."

"Are you for real?" I asked in awe, "You don't want fame or credit?"
He looked at me with saddened eyes and said, "You just don't get it.
You see that shot-up length of wall, the one without a door?
Before a mortar hit, it used to be a grocery store.

"But don't go thinking that to bomb a store is all that cruel, The rubble just across the street -- it used to be a school.
The little kids played soccer in the field out by the road."
His head hung low, "They never thought a car would just explode.

"As bad as all this is though, it could be a whole lot worse."
He swallowed hard, the words came from his mouth just like a curse.
"Today the fight's on foreign land, on streets that aren't my own,"
"I'm here today 'cause if I fail, the next fight's back at home."

"And I won't let my Safeway burn, my neighbors dead inside, Don't wanna get a call from school that says my daughter died; I pray that not a one of them will know the things I see, Nor have the work of terrorists etched in their memory."

"So you can keep your trophies and your fleeting bit of fame, I don't care if I make the news, or if they speak my name."
He glanced toward the camera and his brow began to knot, "If you're looking for a story, why not give this one a shot."

"Just tell the truth of what you see, without the slant or spin; That most of us are OK and we're coming home again.
And why not tell our folks back home about the good we've done, How when they see Americans, the kids come at a run."

"You tell 'em what it means to folks here just to speak their mind, Without the fear that tyranny is just a step behind; Describe the desert miles they walk in their first chance to vote, Or ask a soldier if he's proud, I'm sure you'll get a quote."

He turned and slid the rifle in a drag bag thickly padded, Then looked again with eyes of steel as quietly he added; "And maybe just remind the few, if ill of us they speak, That we are all that stands between the monsters and the weak."

 For the Children

Dear Miss Firestone

I wanted to take a minute to say thanks for the support from you and your organization. The cards,letters,e-mails and packages are great.

I have another request for you. My team has kind of adopted a family here with 10 childern. The 8 y/o daughter stepped on a land mine left behind from the Russains and lost her leg. We're tring to find stuffed animals and simple toys for her and her siblings. They are 3 to 12 y/o's. We also team up with the Chaplin from time to time for other kids here. The worst part of war is what happens to the kids. I wish we could put all the adults in one room and slug it out and leave the kids out of it.

Maybe 20 years from now our kids wont be fighting each other. I'd like to say I fought in the last battle of the last war ever fought. But I've been fighting them for 20 years and i dont think anything's going to change any time soon. So if any of your people would like to help please have them send things for kids to........

Thanks for any support you and your people can give us. And thanks again for the support you already have given.

Kelly
